Family Counseling

Let’s face it, there is no such thing as a perfect family. But that is ok, a family doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be safe, stable, and loving/nurturing in order to function well and support our growth. We are all complex individuals with our own sets of personality characteristics, temperaments, strengths, and areas that need to be worked on, and often our differences or difficulties in communicating can create conflict or affect our family relationships in negative ways.

Therapy can help family members learn positive communication strategies, set appropriate boundaries, resolve conflict, learn coping strategies, and deepen family connections. Parents can benefit from gaining support, insight, guidance, and learning tools to improve parenting skills and increase confidence. Family therapy can involve the whole family or just a couple of family members. When deemed needed by a therapist, individual therapy sessions might be recommended to those participating in family counseling to explore some concepts in a one-on-one therapeutic setting.
